Alumni Spotlight

At 14, Alex was a camper in the first-ever Girls Rock! Chicago session, which is where she was inspired by numerous women to become involved in the Chicago music community. As soon as she "graduated" from GR!C, she began volunteering while exploring opportunities as a Rock DJ at WHPK 88.5 FM and an intern at the Empty Bottle. Not long after, she co-founded a small, independent record label, Dumpster Tapes. In 2016, Alex was fortunate enough to become a member of the Inclusive Music Coalition, organize DemoliciĆ³n -- a showcase dedicated to Chicago's Latinx-fronted garage, punk and psych-rock bands -- and lead a Women in Music History workshop at GR!C.
