    2013 Summer Camps are Coming!

Feb 21st, 2013 by Jennifer | Comments Off

Summer is fast approaching, and with it, our 8th annual Girls Rock! Summer Camps. We are once again offering two sessions of camp, and a little variety from our usual schedule: Session One will take place Monday, July 8 - Sunday, July 14 and Session Two from Monday, August 5 - Sunday, August 11. Both week-long camps are being held at Suder Montessori, a Magnet Elementary school with it’s own after-school rock band program on Chicago’s Near West Side.

During camp, girls ages 8-16 will pick up an instrument and form a band, then write, perform and record an original song — in just 7 days! Find out more about the camp day on our 2013 Camp Info page. Campers must be 8 years old by the start of their camp session and able to attend all 7 days to apply. Financial Aid is available, and no experience is necessary to participate in Girls Rock! Summer Camp.

Volunteers applications will follow so check out all of our volunteer roles and consider teaching an instrument, becoming a counselor, leading a workshop, helping with food, or hauling gear. Many hands make Rock Camp possible!

We can’t wait to see you at camp!

Girls Rock! Chicago is pleased to announce our third annual Autumn Auction! Please join us in celebrating our seventh (!) summer of camp, and to kick off fundraising for 2013. Those who’ve joined us in the past know how fun this party is. And this year, we’re squaredancing for charity. Chicago’s own Golden Horse Ranch Band will be leading us in the Virginia Reel and other favorites, while bartenders from Big Star shake up whiskey cocktails, and Sierra Nevada taps a couple kegs. Once again, we’ve amassed an incredible array of items for bid—from recording studio time to distillery tours and a 1-year subscription to local rock shows. Yeehaw! Come see why countless folks tell us we host the best charity auction in town.
